How to Launch a Podcast: A Quick-Start Guide
So… you’ve finally decided to start that podcast you’ve been pondering about since forever ago. Amazing! Podcasts are actually a great way to solidify yourself as an authority in your sphere of influence and build a dedicated audience that you can then monetize.
Here is a quick overview of what is needed to get started on your podcasting journey:
We will use our podcast, “The Art House” as an example.
1 | Identify Your Audience
First, you have to identify the group of people that your heart beats for. Who would greatly benefit from your knowledge and experiences?
For us, this group was the artists. The professionals, the weekenders, and the hobbyists. These are our people! We deeply connect with their innate drive & desire to create beauty, and to share this beauty with the world.
We want to help artists create from a place of wholeness, so that their art will bring true meaning and value to their audiences.
Maybe you’re an investor, who wants to see their friends financially free, or maybe you have a wonderful marriage, and want to build up other couples along their journey. No matter who you are, you have something uniquely beautiful deposited in you that when spoken aloud, will bring life to others.
2 | Speak to Their Problem
You’ve identified who you’re passionate about serving. Now, we can discover how to speak to their pain points and greatest needs.
For us, as we looked upon the landscape of modern art, whether photography, music, painting, or the like, we saw a lack of depth, of timeless value that will last through the generations. We’ve witnessed how the modern artist has settled for personal expression, when they could be channeling the divine.
We want to bring modern artists in to the conversation of art that has been going on for generations, to learn from the past, in order to create the future.
Your audience might need practical steps to accomplish a task, or deep insights on a detailed process. They may desire to be connected to a community of like-minded people, or they may just want to feel seen & heard. All of this can be done through effective communication, through meaningful conversations.
3 | PRESENT YOURSELF IN THE BEST LIGHT
You’ve discovered who your tribe is, and how you can help them. Now, it’s time to start the conversation. But first, there are some practical things you’ll have to set up to capture these talks in an engaging way. In the past, many podcasts were audio-only, but now video podcasts are a huge market and are the future of education.
